About Andrew

Andrew believes effective physiotherapy starts with understanding the person behind the injury.

With an empathetic and patient-centered approach, Andrew values active listening, clear communication, and evidence-based practice to help patients understand their condition and work towards the activities and goals that are important to them.

Born in Edmonton and raised in Nanaimo, Andrew developed an interest in human movement and rehabilitation through his lifelong involvement in sport and his own experiences with injury. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University, with a focus in Active Health and Rehabilitation, Andrew went on to complete his Doctor of Physiotherapy at Bond University in Australia.

Active and Educated

During his studies, Andrew developed a strong interest in human physiology, biomechanics, exercise, and sports performance. His clinical experience included private musculoskeletal physiotherapy, home visits, hydrotherapy, and providing physiotherapy coverage for the Bond University Australian Rules Football team. He also gained experience in neurological and stroke rehabilitation, general hospital care, orthopedic surgery and post-operative rehabilitation, and geriatrics.

Andrew's primary clinical interests are musculoskeletal physiotherapy, sports injuries, and exercise-based rehabilitation.

He believes that education is an important part of recovery and aims to give patients a clear understanding of what may be contributing to their symptoms, while providing practical strategies that fit into their lifestyle. His goal is to work collaboratively with each patient and provide them with the tools and confidence to take an active role in their recovery. Andrew is also interested in continuing to develop his skills in concussion and vestibular rehabilitation.

Other Interests

Outside of the clinic, Andrew enjoys strength training, golf, hockey, surfing, spending time outdoors, playing guitar, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Having spent two years living and studying in Australia, he developed a strong appreciation for the outdoors and ocean lifestyle and enjoys making trips to Tofino whenever he gets the opportunity.
